What's New

I'm trying to break outside of the norm and write articles that are a little bit outside of the norm, with the idea being that I can offer my audience unique content that is not available anywhere else.
Some of the new articles include Don't Listen to Everyone, The Importance of Being Accountable, and Every Social Anxiety Sufferer has a Role.

If you have an idea that you would like to be turned into an article, please e-mail dan@anxietysupportnetwork.com.

Also, I am looking for personal success stories and articles contributed by ASN users, so if you have decent writing skills and a great story or insight to share, please e-mail dan@anxietysupportnetwork.com and let me know.
The Importance of Gratitude

Many of us afflicted with a persistent and difficult health condition such as social anxiety disorder often spend most of our time in some sort of cycle of negativity. We know that things will never work out the way we had hoped, and very often we are convinced that the outcome which is "least bad" will happen, rather than a good one.

During times like these where nothing is really going our way, it is important to keep in mind that one of the tools that can be used to break these cycles of negativity is having gratitude for what is going well. Some people will of course object that nothing is going well, but after close examination, everyone has something to be thankful for.

Once you are able to find things to be grateful for in your life, it breaks that cycle of negativity and opens you up to the possibility that things can be better. Take a look in your life right now - do you have good physical health, a roof over your head, a steady paycheck, a new friend, a love interest, or an improving relationship with a family member? If you do, then you have something to be grateful for, and keep in mind there are lots of people who do not have what you have right now.

So, ask yourself right now, "What do I have to be grateful for today?" and begin breaking that destructive cycle of negativity.
