 Post subject: How is shyness viewed in your country?

I saw this topic on another site, and thought it was quite interesting.

I'll start with the u.k: Well here if you make a mistake, have any sort of weakness, people will notice and have a go at you for it. Shy people aren't accepted, people are forced to be social at all times it seems like. All the time there is celeb news about "hot bodys" etc. Its impossible to walk the streets without people being bitchy and outspoken. No manners, just a bunch of show offs. Just like alot of our sports stars (they take the easy route to the top, talk themselves up, but back away from real challenges). Being different in ANY way is frowned upon. You simply have to conform to society even if it literally costs you!
